Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Learn how we protect student and educator data.

1Introduction

Yozgoo ("Yozgoo," "we," "us," or "our") is a game-based bullying-prevention platform for students in grades 2–6, developed in partnership with Clemson University and Gamify. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when schools, educators, parents, and visitors interact with our website, marketing communications, and the Yozgoo platform.

We know Yozgoo sits in a sensitive space: we work with children's data indirectly through schools, and our mission is to help prevent bullying — not create new risks to a child's safety or privacy. This policy is written with that responsibility in mind, and it is intentionally more cautious than a typical marketing site's privacy policy.

Who this policy covers: visitors to yozgoo.org, subscribers to our email list, school administrators and counselors we work with, and recipients of our Meta, Google, and WhatsApp marketing communications. It does not cover in-game data collected directly from students while playing, which is governed by our separate Platform & Student Data Privacy Notice provided to schools at enrollment.

2Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide directly

  • Name, email address, phone number, school/district name, and job title (e.g. when you request a demo, subscribe to updates, or order Yozgoo for your school)
  • Billing and payment details, processed securely through our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers)
  • Messages you send us via contact forms, email, or WhatsApp

Information collected automatically

  • Device and browser information, IP address, and general location (city/region level)
  • Pages visited, time on site, referring links, and interactions with our marketing emails and ads
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies described in Section 8

Information from third parties

  • Ad platform data from Meta, Google, and WhatsApp Business when you interact with our ads or messages
  • Publicly available school/district contact information used for initial B2B outreach

3How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to demo requests, quotes, and support inquiries
  • Send marketing and program updates via email, WhatsApp, and targeted ads (with the choices described below)
  • Improve our website, content, and outreach based on aggregate engagement trends
  • Process orders and manage school subscriptions
  • Measure the performance of our marketing campaigns across Meta, Google, and email
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the security of our platform

We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we do not use student gameplay data for advertising purposes, ever.

4Children's Privacy

Yozgoo's marketing (this website, our emails, our ads) is directed at adults — school administrators, counselors, teachers, and parents — not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our marketing channels, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Because Yozgoo's core product is a game played by students in grades 2–6, we treat any student-facing data with extra caution:

  • Student accounts are created and managed by schools, not by direct marketing to children
  • We do not run Meta, Google, or WhatsApp advertising campaigns targeted at children
  • Any in-platform data collected from students during gameplay is governed by our separate Student Data Privacy Notice, shared directly with schools, and handled consistent with COPPA and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) requirements
  • If we learn that a child under 13 has submitted personal information directly to us through a marketing channel (e.g. a website form) without appropriate school or parental involvement, we will delete it promptly

Parents and school administrators who believe a child has provided us information inappropriately can contact us using the details in Section 14.

5Email Marketing

When you request a demo, download a resource, or otherwise opt in, we may send you email communications about Yozgoo, including program updates, educational content, grant/funding information, and offers.

  • We only email people who have opted in or who we reasonably believe have a legitimate professional interest in bullying-prevention programs (e.g. school staff), consistent with the CAN-SPAM Act
  • Every marketing email includes a clear, working unsubscribe link — opting out is processed promptly and without requiring you to create an account or log in
  • We do not sell or rent your email address to third parties
  • Transactional emails (e.g. order confirmations, support replies) are not marketing and may continue even if you unsubscribe from marketing content, as they relate to an active service you've requested

6Advertising Platforms (Meta & Google Ads)

We run paid advertising campaigns to reach school decision-makers and, where relevant, parents. This involves sharing limited data with advertising platforms so we can measure performance and reach relevant audiences — never student data, and never anything from inside the game.

Meta (Facebook & Instagram)

We use the Meta Pixel and Conversions API to measure ad performance and build Custom Audiences from website visitors and email subscribers. We may also build Lookalike Audiences based on our existing customer list to find similar schools. You can control this via Meta's Ad Preferences settings.

Google Ads & Analytics

We use Google Ads remarketing tags and Google Analytics to understand site traffic and re-engage past visitors with relevant ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our site. You can opt out via Google's Ads Settings.

Data shared with these platforms is typically hashed contact information (e.g. an email address converted into a non-reversible code) and does not include your full name, school role, or any content of your communications with us.

7WhatsApp Communications

If you contact us via WhatsApp, or provide your number and opt in to WhatsApp updates, we may use WhatsApp Business to send demo confirmations, order updates, or program information.

  • We only message you on WhatsApp if you've contacted us there first or explicitly opted in elsewhere
  • You can stop WhatsApp communications from us at any time by replying "STOP" or blocking our business number
  • Messages sent via WhatsApp are also subject to WhatsApp's own Privacy Policy, as the platform is operated by Meta
  • We do not use WhatsApp to message students or collect information from children

8Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website and measure marketing performance, including:

  • Essential cookies — required for basic site functionality
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the site (e.g. Google Analytics)
  • Advertising cookies — used by Meta and Google to measure and personalize ads (e.g. Meta Pixel, Google Ads tag)

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling non-essential cookies won't affect your ability to browse the site, but may limit our ability to personalize content or measure ad performance accurately.

9How We Share Information

We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — payment processors, email/CRM tools, hosting providers, and ad platforms (Meta, Google), who process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality obligations
  • Our university and program partners — Clemson University and Gamify, limited to what's needed for program delivery and research, and never including student personal data without appropriate agreements in place
  • Legal requirements — if required to comply with a law, regulation, or valid legal process
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with continued protection under an equivalent policy

We never share information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

10Data Security & Retention

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting — to protect the information we collect. No system is 100% secure, but we work to minimize risk at every step.

We retain marketing contact information for as long as needed to serve our business purposes or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Transactional and billing records may be retained longer where required for accounting or legal purposes.

11Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information:

AccessRequest a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
CorrectionAsk us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
DeletionRequest that we delete your personal information.
Opt-OutUnsubscribe from email, WhatsApp, or ad targeting at any time.
PortabilityRequest your data in a portable format, where applicable.
ObjectionObject to certain uses of your data, including marketing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe consistent with applicable law (e.g. GDPR, CCPA, or equivalent regional regulations).

12Schools & Educators

Yozgoo is sold directly to schools and districts. When a school subscribes, we act as a service provider handling limited operational data (e.g. teacher/admin accounts, class rosters for dashboard purposes) under terms consistent with FERPA and applicable state student-privacy laws.

  • Student in-game data is used only to deliver the program and give teachers/admins visibility into progress — never for advertising
  • Schools remain in control of student accounts and can request data deletion at any time
  • We do not advertise to students, and no student data is shared with Meta, Google, or WhatsApp for marketing purposes

A full Student Data Privacy Notice and Data Processing Agreement is available to schools upon request as part of onboarding.

13Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page, and for material changes, we'll provide additional notice (such as an email to subscribers) where appropriate.
